Precautions for using centrifuge for Pharmaceutical Intermediates

Application of centrifuge technology in pharmaceutical intermediates

As we all know, centrifuges are widely used in the medical field. Centrifuges are widely used in blood separation, virus research, DNA research, drug purification and so on. Cells and DNA molecules at the micro level need high-speed medical centrifuges for separation and research. Such high-speed centrifuges usually rotate at more than 5000 revolutions and less than 60000 revolutions, which can provide a centrifugal force 10000 times the acceleration of gravity for the separation of small molecules. The blood separation generally uses a 3000 rpm centrifuge. At present, most manufacturers can produce it, and good results have been obtained in practical use. The centrifuges used in refining processes such as drug purification are general low-speed centrifuges, with rotating speed below 3000 rpm and large processing capacity. In order to meet the GMP specifications and requirements in drug production, they are generally made of flat stainless steel.

1. High speed medical centrifuge
At present, the production of high-speed medical centrifuges is mainly concentrated in Beijing, Shanghai and Hunan. The technology of such centrifuges is relatively simple. Generally, they are multi-purpose zone centrifuges (see other articles for details). Zone centrifuges separate and collect cells, viruses and DNA molecules according to the density and gradient of sample solution. Their sampling and unloading are in a continuous way, which is widely used in production technology, It is also widely used in laboratories. Due to the use of DC variable frequency motor or DC brushless motor, the speed is generally adjustable and has high speed. In order to reduce the weight of the body and drum, the shell is generally made of plastic or other non reactive alloy materials, and the interior is often made of light alloy or other non reactive materials.

With the extremely rapid development of biomedicine in recent years, high-speed medical centrifuge has also made great progress. It has formed a separate market pattern different from low-speed centrifuge. It is expected that the growth momentum will continue in the future and attract more research institutions. At the same time, high-speed medical centrifuge is also the classification product with the fastest technological development in the centrifuge industry.

2. Low speed centrifuge
In addition to being used in traditional industries such as textile, chemical industry and environmental protection, low-speed centrifuges are now widely used in pharmaceutical enterprises to realize the separation of mother liquor. Due to the strict specifications of pharmaceutical enterprises, pharmaceutical centrifuges basically adopt flat closed type. In order to reduce possible pollution or damage or improve hygiene, the parts in contact with materials are made of stainless steel or the whole is made of stainless steel. The whole machine has no sanitary dead corner and is clean and easy to use, This type of centrifuge has basically spread throughout the pharmaceutical industry. Together with the small centrifuge with about 3000 revolutions for blood separation, it constitutes the whole low-speed industrial centrifuge system, and also infiltrates other industries associated with biomedicine. Such centrifuges must meet the national GMP specifications before they can be used.
